Baylands triumphs in WCIPA 2021

The 14th annual Malthouse West Coast IPA Challenge has been decided in Wellington with Baylands Brewery from Petone taking the coveted Golden Gumboots. 

The Challenge has become a major event on the national brewing calendar with the country’s top breweries bringing out their best hop skills and competing to brew the ultimate West Coast IPA.

This year, judges assessed 29 entries before declaring the winner at The Malthouse in the capital on Friday night (30 July).

Malthouse West Coast IPA Challenge 2021 results:

Winner: Baylands Brewery – The Hops Awaken.

Second place: Parrotdog – L.B. WCIPA

Third place: Emerson’s Brewery – Set Phasers to Stun

People’s choice: Epic Beer – High Score
