Countdown to GABS 2022

The countdown is on to the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) in Auckland on 25 June, with organisers releasing a sneak preview of the Festival Beer List.

The one-off brews have been created especially for the event at Auckland Showgrounds, which will feature more than 40 New Zealand breweries and more than 30 Australian breweries across container bars and exhibitor stands.

GABS is regarded as one of the world’s leading craft beer festivals, with its focus on new and experimental craft beers and ciders.

The highest ABV beer this year is Dark Ritual by Australia’s Deeds Brewing. The 14.5% black Imperial Stout has been aged for 12 months in bourbon barrels.

Baked and Wasted from Australia’s Brouhaha Brewery embraces the circular economy by using wasted baked good, while Taranaki’s Shining Peak has created Double Skunk – an Imperial version of its famed Skunk Juice that packs plenty of tropical hop character.

GABS will also feature a circus and sideshow performers, panel discussions with industry leaders, food pairing, beer hall games, silent disco and local food trucks and vendors.

GABS Craft Beer & Cider Festival will be held across two 5-hour sessions on Saturday, 25 June 2022.

Session 1: 11.30am - 4.30pm

Session 2: 6.30pm - 11.30pm
