Deep Creek in liquidation
Auckland brewery Deep Creek has announced that it is in liquidation, after more than 12 years in business.
In a statement on Facebook, the Deep Creek team noted that while they had made it through the COVID period, it had been a difficult time for the brewery due to market pressures in New Zealand and also in its key export market of China.
While that market had since rebounded, Deep Creek co-founders Jarred Maclachlan and Paul Brown said a recent product recall proved too much. “In 2023 the Chinese market rebounded strongly but very recently we had a can seaming issue that required our beer to be recalled from the market. The cash flow impact of this recall was significant and proved to be a step too large for our team to overcome. We are deeply saddened by this.”
Derek Ah Sam and Paul Vlasic of Rogers Reidy were appointed as liquidators of Deep Creek Brewing Operations Limited on 31 October. Their first report is due 7 November.
Deep Creek was founded in Auckland’s Browns Bay in 2011 and had later expanded to a larger brewery space in Silverdale, north of the city.
