Entries open for AIBA 2022
Entries are now open for the Melbourne Royal Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) with several new classes added, including New Zealand-specific styles.
Established in 1992, AIBA is the largest annual beer competition in the world, judging both draught and packaged beer and is open to commercial breweries of all sizes.
In 2021, the Awards attracted over 2,500 entries from more than 400 breweries in 21 countries across the categories of beer and packaging design, and awarded 35 trophies.
Organisers say that following a number of revisions to the US Brewers Association 2021 Beer Style Guidelines, the 2022 Awards sees the introduction of several new classes, including ‘New Zealand-Style Pale Ale’ (Best International-Style Pale Ale) and ‘New Zealand-Style India Pale Ale’ (Best Traditional India Pale Ale), as well as ‘Juicy or Hazy Pale Ale’, ‘Juicy or Hazy Strong Pale Ale’, and ‘Experimental India Pale Ale’, among others.
Entries close on Friday 1 April, with judging in May and the awards presentation scheduled for Thursday 26 May.
Full entry details are available on the AIBA website.
