Entries open for Hospitality Awards for Excellence

Entries are now open for the Hospitality Awards for Excellence – the largest and longest-running national hospitality awards.

Now in their 24th year, the Awards recognise the best businesses and people across New Zealand’s food, beverage and accommodation sectors and will be presented at a gala dinner in Auckland on 27 July. They will again be supported by long-time sponsor Lion New Zealand.

Organisers say that the 2022 Awards will include four new people awards, to celebrate the leaders who got the industry through the past two years. These are: Leader of the Year in Hospitality, Leader of the Year in Accommodation, Future Leader of the Year, and Chef of the Year. There will also be an induction into the Hospitality Hall of Fame and the announcement of the Supreme Award, as the pinnacle of the Awards for Excellence.

This year’s event will also be the first time in three years that the Awards have been held in person, due to earlier COVID restrictions.

Hospitality New Zealand Chief Executive Julie White says she is delighted to be able to hold the awards this year. “Being able to do this in person for the first time in three years, to celebrate the businesses that have made it through COVID is something the industry needs to be able to do.

“After all they’ve been through, it is really inspiring to see hospitality businesses still working so hard to serve their communities and customers, not just in service but also in the comfort they offer in times of stress.

“Hospitality New Zealand is promoting the awards widely, offering finalists and the winners a great opportunity to gain publicity. This is a great opportunity for them to market their business.”

Applications for the awards are open now and close on 20 May.
