Entries open for NZIWS

Entries are now open for the New Zealand International Wine Show – the largest wine judging competition in the country and one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

New Zealand’s most experienced wine judge, Bob Campbell MW, will again head a panel of senior judges in assessing the entries to determine medallists and those who make the prestigious 2023 Champions List.

Any grape variety of wine from any country can be entered and the wines do not need to be available for purchase or retail in New Zealand. International entries have been hugely successful in the competition, notably Champagnes, sparkling wines, Australian reds and fortified wines.

Entry details are available online and entries will close on 1 September. This year’s competition entries have been limited to a maximum of 2,000 wines.

Last year, 25 Trophies were awarded for the best in class wines, Champion Winemaker and Wine Company of the Show. The team of senior judges awarded 256 gold medals, including 64 double gold, 335 silver and 583 bronze medals. The high number of gold medals reflecting the outstanding quality in recent vintages and the high standard of entries.
