New date for whisky event DramFest

New Zealand’s leading whisky festival DramFest has been rescheduled to March 2023, following the postponement of the 2022 event due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The 8th biennial event was due to take place from 26-27 February at the Te Pae Christchurch Convention & Exhibition Centre, but will now be held 4-5 March 2023 at the same venue.

The organisers say that while they’re saddened to have to wait a full year for the festival, they feel it is the most sensible date “both logistically and in terms of the health and wellbeing of everyone involved”.

DramFest is New Zealand’s largest whisky tasting and education festival and has become an iconic event on the drinks industry calendar.

The 2023 event is set to feature more than 60 exhibitors representing distilleries, producers and independent bottlers from Scotland, Japan, Ireland and around the whisky world.

The DramFest organisers have also announced plans to hold four tasting sessions at the end of February (25 and 26) during which they will showcase three whiskies selected from the DramFest line-up. Entitled “The Silver Sessions”, tickets are limited and available through the Whisky Galore website.
