NZ gin tops Australian Gin Awards
Industry newcomer Bluff Distillery has made a splash at the Australian Gin Awards 2024, winning the overall title of Best in Show as well as Best in Class for its Bluff London Dry Gin.
The awards were announced last night (Sept 4) in Sydney.
The judges described the Kiwi gin as “exceptional”, noting: “A classic style gin achieving a standard of excellence. Beautifully balanced with top class integration of botanicals into the classic framework.”
Bluff Distillery launched in March 2024 and the first batch of its gin, packaged in a distinctive blue-green glass buoy bottle, sold out within five days.
Co-Founder and Distiller of Bluff Distillery, Chris Fraser, says it’s an honour to be recognised on the international stage for a gin that represents the ruggedly beautiful spirit of Bluff. “It’s great validation for us as a team. Just as everything else in Bluff – the gin is what it says on the tin, we wanted to make a gin that respected the classic London Dry recipes created hundreds of years ago.”
Bluff Distillery says it plans to increase production by 100-150% in the coming year.
