Winners in 2023 NZ Beer Awards

The winners in the 2023 New Zealand Beer Awards have been announced, with Warkworth brewery 8-Wired named Overall Champion at the annual industry event.

In its 17th year, the New Zealand Beer Awards, managed by the Brewers Guild of New Zealand, recognises excellence in beer as well as other accolades across New Zealand’s brewing industry. The competition is open to commercial brewers of all production sizes in New Zealand.

The Guild says that this year’s awards received 825 entries from 80 entrants, which was an almost identical number to last year’s event.

The biggest category in 2023 was Juicy / Hazy with 135 entries, followed by NZ Styles with 103. The success rate at gaining a medal in the 2023 competition was 69%, which was an 11% increase from 2022.
