Federal Merchants shifts distribution to Mainfreight

Federal Merchants & Co. has announced a move to Mainfreight as its new national distribution partner, using its leading and comprehensive New Zealand-wide network.

“This is a fantastic move for our business,” says Natalie Dodd, Head of Operations at Federal.  “We pride ourselves on having great people and great brands, and we believe that Mainfreight is the #1 logistics provider in New Zealand, so it’s a perfect and logical Kiwi business partnership.”

Effective from 21 August, Mainfreight will warehouse and distribute the entire Federal Merchants & Co. portfolio nationally from two key hubs, improving speed of delivery and overall service levels.

South Island customers will be serviced from a new Mainfreight-operated warehouse in Christchurch. Federal Merchants says that this will greatly improve time to market in the South Island and will make a significant difference to On-premise trade customers, in particular.

The North Island will be serviced by Mainfreight’s new state-of-the-art warehouse in Favona, south Auckland. This is also expected to boost delivery times and Federal’s overall service levels.

Federal Merchants & Co. says it will work hard to make the transition as seamless as possible for customers and is confident the new systems will be ready for what is hoped to be a record Quarter 4 and summer this year.
